Class of 2021

Alivia Johnson

Alivia Johnson

Alivia enjoys math and science classes at Central. She's also an ambassador for the girls' STEM organization Real Impact, and is a mentor for the group's robotics team. At this point, Alivia is still undecided about what she wants to do after high school, but she has an interest in neo-natal surgery and chemical engineering.

Shamiya Gladden

Shamiya Gladden

Shamiya's favorite subjects at Howard High School are math and reading, and she is in the Mentor's Project. She has also participated in feeding the homeless during the Christmas season. When she's not at school, she loves going to the moving, shopping and going out to eat with her friends. At this time, Shamiya's goal is to attend Albany State University or Savannah State University and study to be a nurse or pediatrician.

Amari's favorite subjects at Northeast are math and social studies. She is a participant in the Real Impact STEM group at Mercer University and also loves playing in the Raider marching band. When she graduates high school, Amari plans to attend Penn State or Georgia Tech to pursue a career as a neurosurgeon.

Amauri's favorite classes at Southwest are math and marketing, and she's also a part of the FBLA club. In the future, she plans to be an entreprenuer with an expanding brand.

Jasmine Martin

Jasmine Martin

Jasmine participates in several activities at Southwest, including FBLA, Academic Team, FCCLA, 4-H and band, in which she plays the flute. When she gets older, Jasmine plans to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse.

Altanese's favorite class at Southwest is English, and she also enjoys digital design and cheerleading. When she gets older, Altanese plans to pursue a career in forensices or public safety and corrections.

Anaya's favorite class is math, but she also likes reading, writing and band class. After high school, Anaya wants to attend, Spelman, Benedict or Clark Atlanta, where she will pursue a career as a lawyer.

Lalah Black

Lalah's favorite classes at Southwest are math classes, but she also likes to read and write. After she finishes high school, Layla's goal is to head out west to attend UCLA, where she would study to be an anesthesiologist.

Ruth loves math class. After school, she runs track but always makes sure to keep up with her studies. For a career, Ruth plans to either pursue something in the engineering or counseling fields.

Marcelle Williams
Marcelle Williams, Appling Middle School
Marcelle is the daughter of Dennis and Anne-Marie Royal.  She is an active member of FBLA, the News Team, Junior Beta Club, Millionaire Readers Club, Math Team and Academic Team.  She has received various academic honors such as Highest GPA in Second and Fourth Grade, 2nd Place in the District’s Readers Cup Competition, and 5th Grade Leadership Award.  Also, Marcelle was the Valedictorian of her 5th Grade Class.  Marcelle’s hobbies are reading and taking care of animals.  Her teachers say she is “driven, intelligent, and a hard worker.”  Marcelle plans to attend college to become a veterinarian.  Marcelle says, “Being a REACH Scholar will help me reach my goal of helping countless animals and making an impact on the field of animal medicine.

Centreace McCrea
Centreace McCrea, Ballard-Hudson Middle School
An 8th-grade student at Ballard-Hudson Middle School, Centreace is the daughter of Alicia and Michael McCrea.  Centreace is an active member of FBLA, Band, Chorus, and 4-H.  She has received countless academic honors such as Highest Average in all Subjects in grades 3 and 4, the Highest Score on the GA Milestones in Mathematics in 5th Grade, and the Cloverleaf DPA. Centreace’s main hobby is reading.  Centreace’s teacher, Mrs. Fossett-Gilbert, says, “She has a strong work ethic, learns quickly, loves a challenge, and is a role model for others.”  Centreace plans to attend Mercer University to become a doctor.  Centreace believes, “Receiving the REACH Scholarship proved to me that when you are passionate about your goals, blessings will come to you.”

Sanniy Clowers
Sanniy Clowers, Howard Middle School
Sanniy's parents are Jason and Stefani Clowers.  Sanniy is a cheerleader and active member of FBLA.  Sanniy has received athletic and academic awards.  She is most proud of receiving the Star Student Award.  Sanniy’s teacher, Ms. Wooten, said, “Sanniy is very respectful of herself and others.  She has excellent attendance, grades, and behavior.  She has exceptional critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.” Sanniy plans to attend UCLA to become a micro-biologist.  When asked, the impact she believes receiving the REACH scholarship will have on her future, Sanniy stated, “Receiving the REACH Scholarship will remove the barrier of finances to pursuing my future goals.”

Tai Leea Jones
Tai-Leea Jones, Miller Magnet Middle School
Tai-Leea  is the daughter of Shantae Hollingshed and Darrick Jones.  Tai-Leea is an accomplished dancer and an active member of her church.  She has received countless invitations to dance at various events throughout the city and the state of Georgia.  Her academic accomplishments are numerous.  She has received A/B Honor roll since first grade.  Tai-Leea’s teacher, Ms. Hardison, says, “Tai-Leea is highly-motivated, focused, and educationally driven.   She shows a high level of maturity, and she is a leader.”  Tai-Leea states, “Receiving the REACH Scholarship will afford me the opportunity to attend post-secondary to reach my goals, and this might not have happened for me without this scholarship.”  Upon graduation, Tai-Leea wants to attend technical college to become a cosmetologist and obtain a degree in business to own a hair salon.  

Montavius Smith
Montavius Smith, Rutland Middle School
Montavius  is the son of the late Ashley Smith-Coley. He currently resides with his grandparents Symuel and Sandra Tripp.  Montavius is a talented football player, sings in his church choir, and takes advanced content classes in Language Arts and Science.  Montavius has received numbers awards for athletics and academics.  His football team won the district championship in his 6th-grade year, and he has received the Bronze President’s Award, A/B Honor Roll and the Principal’s Award.  Dr. Barbara Peck, Assistant Principal at Rutland Middle School, said, “Montavius is a very-good, well-rounded student.  Montavius believes, “Receiving the REACH Scholarship will help me reach my goals in life.  I know this will make my deceased mother and grandparents proud.”  Montavius plans to attend Middle Georgia State to major in Culinary Science and later pursue a degree in Criminal Justice from Emory University.

Hanniah Knighton
Hanniah Knighton, Weaver Middle School
Hanniah is the daughter of Keya Knighton.  Hanniah is involved in many academic, religious, and civic organizations.  She is a talented and accomplished volleyball player.  She has received numerous academic and athletic awards such as A/B Honor Roll and the Georgia Milestones. Mrs. Elesha Scott, Mentor, states, “Hanniah is resilient and focused on achieving her goals. She has a positive attitude and a genuine spirit.”  Ms. Rose, School Counselor at Weaver Middle, passionately stated, “Hanniah is motivated and hard-working.”  Hanniah explained, “Winning this scholarship means I will be a role model to the people in my family.  I will be the first person in my family to graduate and attend college.”  Upon graduation, Hanniah plans to attend Middle Georgia State University and major in nursing.
