District Hosting ESPLOST Informational Sessions
Posted on 09/09/2019
The Bibb County School District will host several information sessions to provide stakeholders with more background regarding the upcoming vote to renew the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) this fall. The ESPLOST is a one-percent sales tax essential for the District to effectively meet the teaching and learning needs of students and teachers in Bibb County public schools. Examples of how funds are used include building and renovating schools, improving safety and security efforts throughout the District, updating technology, replacing older buses with newer models that have air conditioning and better fuel efficiency, and upgrading athletics facilities.

Among the items called for in the 2020 ESPLOST referendum are a new elementary school, a fine arts facility, an agricultural arena, athletic improvements, continued technology upgrades, energy efficiency projects, bus and fleet replacements, land acquisition, furniture purchases and other renovations and projects. For an overview of items included in the referendum, stakeholders are encouraged to attend one of the following information sessions.

Tuesday, September 10 @ 6 PM – Central High Auditorium, 2155 Napier Avenue
Tuesday, September 17 @ 6 PM – Rutland High Cafeteria, 6250 Skipper Road
Monday, October 14 @ 6 PM – Carter Elementary Cafeteria, 5910 Zebulon Road
Monday, October 21 @ 6 PM – Northeast High Auditorium, 1646 Upper River Road
