Read for the Record 2017

Read for the Record 2017

The Bibb County School District, United Way of Central Georgia, and Middle Georgia Regional Libraries are working together to support early literacy for every child. This year's goal is to have a reader for every Prek - 3 grade classroom at each BCSD elementary school and Northwoods Academy. To meet our goal we need reading volunteers. Readers will be asked to read the book Quackers to 1 or 2 classes on Thursday, October 19, 2017 between 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at one school. Volunteers can choose to read form 9:00 - 10:00 AM or from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Once registered you will receive additional information about this year's Read for the Record event.

Read for the Record is a national event to improve child literacy. Children and adults read the same book in classrooms, libraries, child centers and homes across the community. Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination, expands their understanding, and strengthens their language and listening skills.

THIS YEAR'S SELECTION: Quackers is the story of a kitten adopted by ducks who must find himself when he meets another cat. Along the way, he learns about similarities and differences we all share, and how to celebrate and love everyone for their uniqueness.

Come, share an hour, and take a step toward changing lives.

To register, Click here! Registration has been extended to Tuesday, October 17th
