Welcome to Healthy For Life Program, a Physical Education program for all Bibb County Students, made possible by the Physical Education Program (PEP) Grant.

What is the PEP Grant? The PEP Grant, also known as the Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) Grant, is a federally funded grant program designed to award money to local education agencies and community-based organizations, including religious organizations, to help them initiate, expand, or enhance physical education programs for K through 12 students. In 2016, the PEP Grant awarded schools and community-based organizations anywhere from $200,000 to $800,000 for programs that help students work toward meeting state standards for physical education.

In October 2016, the Bibb County School District received the Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) grant. The project title for our grant is Healthy for Life (HFL). The goal of HFL is to bring BCSD up to Georgia standards for comprehensive health and physical education by enhancing the district's current K-12 physical education and nutrition program to improve the physical fitness levels and eating habits of BCSD students.

To meet the objectives of the grant HFL will provide professional development to all district PE teachers, select regular classroom teachers and lead afterschool staff on fitness and nutrition. The project includes partnerships with Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation, Piedmont Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, HealthMPowers, Search Institute, SPARK, BCSD nutrition director, and Macon-Bibb County Health Department.
