Hello! My name is Antonio Goodrum. I am a native of Macon, Georgia, and a product of the Bibb County Public School System where I graduated from Southwest High School in 1983. Throughout my twenty-nine years, I have received numerous honors. I was Chosen as "Teacher of the Year" by fellow colleagues at four schools, and I have been featured in the Macon Telegraph while serving as an educator in both Bibb and Baldwin County School Districts. In addition, I received the Superintendent's "Beacon Light Award" and the McKibben Lane Award, too. As an educational leader, I dedicate my time and talents to making a positive change in the lives of all students on a daily basis, and I will create an environment structured and conducive for learning. Also, I vow to provide a safe environment that will enhance the performance of all students in all academic areas; therefore, ensuring that all pupils will be able to compete globally in the future.
My career began approximately twenty-nine years ago in Baldwin County where I served as an elementary general music teacher and choral director. After teaching three years in Milledgeville, Georgia, I returned home to Bibb County where I had the awesome task of teaching music education, early-childhood education and-middle grades education for eighteen years. I taught at the following schools: Burke Elementary, Hamilton Elementary, L.H. Williams Elementary, Ingram/Pye Elementary, Burdell-Hunt Elementary, Appling Middle School and Weaver Middle School. In addition, I was an instructional coach at Morgan Elementary and at Southwest Magnet High School and Law Academy. I also served as an Instructional Lead Teacher at Burdell-Hunt Elementary, and after obtaining my educational leadership degree, I served as the assistant principal at King-Danforth Elementary School and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. Currently, I am the assistant principal at SOAR Academy Alternative Program where I manage students in grades 9-12 (Opportunity Achievement Center (OAC) alternative school) and (Personalized Learning Center (PLC) credit recovery).
