  • National History Day

    All students at Rutland Middle will be participating in The National History Day Competition.  You may choose to do an Exhibit, Performance, Documentary, Web Site or Historical Paper.  This is a mandatory project for all students at Rutland Middle School.

     Project Deadlines: 

    • Thursday, October 20 turn in parent/student signature strip  
    • Thursday, December 1turn in topic and type of project that you will complete 
    • Friday, January 13rough draft of historical paper, story board for documentary, web site, or exhibit, script for performance 
    • Thursday, January 26Projects due/Presentations - include bibliography and Process Paper  
    • TBDProject Registration due to Mrs. Nobles (school-wide), date based on due date to regional competition  

    The first three deadlines will equal a grade.  The final project is worth two grades.  Projects will be judged and your project may represent our school in the regional and/or state competitions.  You are strongly encouraged to refer to for further details. Contact your child's Social Studies Teacher for specific questions or information about grade-level requirements.

  • Technology Fair

    The Bibb County Technology Fair will be held on February 4, 2017 at Westside High School.

  • Attendance Policy Information

    Attendance Policy Highlights: 

    • After returning to school from an absence, students have three (3) days to present a written excuse. Failure to present an excuse will result in an unexcused absence.  The principal or designee will determine whether an absence is excused and may require supporting documentation.  Students shall be given a reasonable opportunity, not exceeding five (5) days, to make up work or tests which were missed because on an excused absence.  Failure to make up work will result in a grade of zero (0).
    • Students who have ten (10) or more unexcused absences will not be promoted to the next grade.

 As part of the Georgia Standards, students should read at least 25 grade-level books or equivalents (approximately 1 million words) per year from a variety of sources. They should choose from fiction and nonfiction books, newspapers, magazines, textbooks, and other sources. Please encourage reading in your home.
